Falling down, falling down…

By Samir Alam

Another set back for the Common Wealth Games took place on the 21st October when a pedestrian bridge collapsed suddenly injuring 27 people with 4 laborers in critical condition. While the injured were immediately taken to Safdarjung and AIIMS medical centers, games organizers took to damage control in front of the global media. With media criticism having escalated as the games inauguration came closer, this accident once again gave testimony to the unprofessional and irresponsible management of the organizers. Various news agencies present were denied close access to the accident site and briefed with age old finger pointing that has become trademark of the games organizing committee.
