Colouring the skies

The biggest democratic country in the world India, celebrated its Independence Day 2010 with lots of charisma and vigor. The rich tradition of flying kites is always a common feature during the Independence Day in Delhi. It is been noticed that every year there are less number of kites in the sky, as people have found alternate ways of celebrating Independence with their family too. But, kite flying activity will always find its place on the auspicious day of 15th August.

As a result of which, there are a large number of people who come to Delhi from other parts of the state to sell kites. They ply their trade owing to the fact that Delhi has always been a place where people express their joy of Independence by flying kites. It’s not the money that brings these people (kite sellers) to Delhi but their passion for kite making which was started by their earlier generations.
