Yamuna Rising

The recent rains in the northern part of India caused rivers to swell and especially Yamuna reached its danger mark. It also led to flood threat in the adjoining areas. The Yamuna is the largest tributary river of the Ganges. Haryana is believed to have released excess amount of water. A total of 344,674 cusecs of water was released from Tajewala headworks into Yamuna River. The Delhi government has shut down gates of 17 nullahs (canals) flowing into the Yamuna to prevent the rising water from coming into the city.
