The much awaited Delhi Book Fair opened at Pragati Maidan on August 29th, to a lukewarm response. Spread over an area of 12,000 square feet, spanning over 4 halls, this is an annual hallmark for the Capital’s bookworms. One section hosts the Stationery Fair which too has been a big draw in the last few years. Despite being a Saturday, the business was slow and did not pick up even as crowds trickled in. Jaswant Singh seemed to be the highlight of the day as his book flew off the shelves and he spent almost an hour signing copies at the Rupa stall. A seminar by writers from the North East is also scheduled for in the week. Definitely a must visit for all book afficiandos!

  1. How long is it on? and who are the major publishers showing? is there a discount? any reason why I should go there and not CP?

  2. its on till sept 6th, everyday till 7. most major publishers have stalls, penguin, random house, rupa etc. most, infact i think all of them give a 10% basic discount but it is varies according to stalls. the cool part about the fair of course is that u get evrything under one roof instead of bookstore hopping. a lot of times u can find books u generally might not get in the market.
